Pastor Joseph Garrett
Rev. Joseph Garrett has been preaching for more than fifteen years. He has served as a minister for a homeless shelter at Prodigal Son's Ministries and as a Minister of Celebration for one of the largest GLBT affirming churches in the world. He has been the Pastor of River City Living Church since March 2010. Under the spiritual direction of Pastor Joseph, the church has doubled in size and continues to grow. The church has also begun River of Peace Pantry, a free food program for those in need and other outreach programs.
In addition to serving the church, Pastor Joseph serves as Chairman for the Pride Center San Antonio and volunteers for many other non-profit organizations in the community. He has also had a distinguished career as a successful entrepreneur.
Pastor Joseph felt the calling to be a pastor at a young age but did not identify with the judgmental religious beliefs of his upbringing. "The God of love that I knew and called friend was not the same condemning god that was taught from behind the pulpit," he states when asked about his earliest spiritual experiences. "This created a great personal struggle but fortunately, a light filled woman of God took the time to teach me the Truth, she changed my life." Since then, Pastor Joseph has spent his life encouraging those who struggle with their relationship with God. "Christ did not come to condemn the world, but so everyone may have life and have to the fullest," He declares with a resounding joy.
Pastor Joseph brings a message of love and hope at each Sunday service and conducts a weekly scripture discussion group on Tuesdays evenings.
